It is best if you have read prior books in this series before you read Jordan’s Purrfect Mate the fifth book in Jess Buffett’s Hunter Clan series. Having said that, you will enjoy this addition to Ms. Buffett’s world. Jordan has been a strong but snarky character in this world. He has mad skills and a bruised ego as he follows Colton’s breadcrumbs but with the help of friends he remembers the importance of supporting his mate. I enjoyed seeing Jordan’s and Colton’s friends remind them of the importance of communication. I enjoyed the smack down provided curtesy of their best friends.
Speaking of Colton, talk about a shifter with a rough life, I mean his attempts to protect his father led to an unintended result. He lost everyone he loved and his fear of losing more leads to a snarky disposition. He didn’t know how to connect but boy was he funny (at least to me) while he tried. I adored his humor even while understanding why he kept others away and wishing he would let others in.
I loved that Ms. Buffett continues to move her story arc along even while giving us complex characters. I found myself laughing and enjoying Jordan, Colton and the rest of the gang. I loved the sense of community which pervades throughout the book even as a war is being fought. I am eagerly waiting to see where Ms. Buffett will take us next.

Five Shooting Stars!!
I have know read all the books in this series and they are very good I'm so looking forward to reading the next book I like that there is more going on then just mating and I hope that it dose not take real long for the next book I have loved each matted couple and I like that each book different so if you like shifter stories read these.
Awhile ago I read a few books in this series and decided to try this one. The overall story arc was easy to catch up on, even with skipping a few books. Jordan's Purrfect Mate is the fifth in this series. For a Siren Publishing book it's surprisingly well edited. Colton and Jordan skirt around their mating but as the story starts they finally act on their feelings. So yes this is an instant m/m mating. There were quite a few back up characters that I couldn't remember but that didn't detract from the story.

This book had more than the standard wolf meets cat, mate, and bedding. There were many sex scenes and quite detailed. But there's a bit more to this story than the usual. We learn more about Darius and the group that is targeting the Hunter Clan as well as other supernaturals. The fight is still ongoing and the epilogue hints of a continuing story.

What bothered me
For 85 pages, each scene has to count. It has too many sex scenes. Changing POV's are nice but didn't add anything to the story. But at least they were pretty well done.

SPOILERS

In the final chapter Colton and Jordan are in a huge fight and are outnumbered and overwhelmed. Colton is described as 'covered in blood' and 'in a fetal position', 'is weak', can't 'lift his head', and knows he is dying. Jordan gives his own first hand view of the fight and thinks his mate, Colton, is dead. Yes Colton shifts from panther to human so now he's naked but still hurt.

From that scene we go right to a meeting of which Colton and Jordan attend. Like all meetings, I'm sure it was long and after that the two take off to their bedroom to . . . have sex.

No mention of showers after the fight. . . I mention showers because this story is riddled with showers. Added to that no mention of the care or patching of wounds. Heck, Colton almost died so you would think a doctor would be hovering. No mention of any aches and pains, no open wounds, no being careful during sex as to not lay on Colton's multilated back. There wasn't any mention of Jordan's injuries but there's no way he could survive without being hurt.

I wondered if Colton was still 'covered in blood' during their bedroom romp. If so, Jordan was too involved to mention it. Then I got thinking of crusty blood and the smell.

I realize this sounds nit picky but I've found a lot of Siren Publishing authors don't follow through for their readers. While so much of the book was spot on in details, the ending was really off, so much so that I had to write about it. (See above) A couple more paragraphs wouldn't have hurt this story. So then I wonder why a published author doesn't check and recheck her work to make it believable and fulfilling. This one didn't come through for me. - Dan's Wife
